Here's How It All Begain

Hey there, welcome to Jo Jo’s Glider Shack, the place where we’re all about all those adorable little balls of fur known as sugar gliders! Oh and did I mention they’re o so cute!!! I’m Samantha, and I’m a proud sugar Momma to my eight sugar babies, Lola, Stitch, Angel, Zinger, Twinkie, Sugar, Jynx, and Jemma. Hoping to add Jade real soon to complete my third trio.

If you’re like me, the moment you laid eyes on a sugar glider for the first time, you fell in love. To this day, I remember exactly how that felt. When I decided to buy Lola and bring her home, it was both thrilling and scary at the same time.

Everything about owning a sugar glider was new to me. Sure I’ve had pets before. But soon I realized there was more to taking care of Lola than just sitting a bowl of food down like you would a dog and walking away.

There were a lot of days spent researching which foods to buy, what size cage to get and what the heck is a bonding pouch anyway? I went from website to website desperately searching for answers. Just when I thought I was getting somewhere I would run into another dead end.

Despite feeling overwhelmed and thinking what have I got myself into, I was somehow able to hold it together. With the passage of time, trial and error, and knowing I couldn’t stand the thought of failing, I can now say I’m enjoying Lola now more than ever. It was a tough journey but now I’m reaping the rewards.

Something however kept nagging at me. All that wasted time I spent searching online, I couldn’t help but think, If only there was a website where I could learn how to care for Lola and purchase the supplies I needed all in one place

Feeling Right At Home

If only there was a website like that when I started?

Well now there is! 🙂

What I’ve decided to do is put together all my hands-on experience taking care of my clan and combine it with some of the information I’ve gathered along the way to create this site.

That means, I can save you the time and frustration I went through. Think of it as your very own shortcut that will get you enjoying your very own Lola right away.

Now for some basics.

If you’re considering getting a sugar glider, there are a few things you should know. First off, these guys are super social creatures and need to be kept in pairs. So, if you’re not ready for double the fun, a sugar glider might not be the right pet for you. Trust me, watching them snuggle up together is just about the cutest thing you’ll ever see.

Another thing you should know is that sugar gliders are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day and are up and about at night. So, if you’re not a night owl, be prepared to adjust your sleep schedule a bit. But, who needs a good night’s sleep when you can watch your little furry friends play and explore all night long?

Feeding sugar gliders can be a bit of a challenge, but it’s not too difficult once you get the hang of it. They love fresh fruits, veggies, and high-quality protein, so you’ll need to get a little creative with their meals. It’s like meal prep for your furry buddies!

The most important thing when it comes to owning a sugar glider is bonding. These little guys can become incredibly close with their humans, but it takes time and effort. It’s like building a friendship. Be patient, give them lots of treats, and soon enough, you’ll have a bond that’s truly special.

Now, let’s talk about the not-so-fun part: the cost. Sugar gliders can be a bit pricey, so be prepared to make a financial investment. You’ll need to get a spacious cage, toys, food, and other supplies. Plus, vet bills can be a bit on the expensive side, so make sure to budget accordingly. But, hey, the love and joy your sugar gliders bring to your life is priceless.

Overall, owning a sugar glider is a one-of-a-kind experience. They’re full of personality and love, and once they’ve bonded with you, you’ll have a friend for life. So, if you’re ready for double the fun, late-night adventures, and endless love, consider bringing a sugar glider into your life.
